Alexis D. Motley is a native of Louisiana. After graduating from Oakdale High School in Oakdale, Louisiana, she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Family, and Consumer Science with a specialization in Human Nutrition from Southern University A&M College in Baton Rouge, LA. Alexis was commissioned into the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant Engineer Officer. After completing her military contract, Alexis completed her master’s degree and Dietetic Internship at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Motley is the Dietetic Internship Director at Southern University A&M College. She has experience in diabetes education, community and school gardens, and military/government nutrition. Alexis has volunteered and served on numerous committees with the Louisiana Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Baton Rouge Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Motley’s affiliations include My Kid Plate Foundation, Girls Scouts of Baton Rouge, YWCA of Greater Baton Rouge, and Baton Rouge Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta. Her passion for bridging the food insecurity gap in underserved communities encouraged her to develop her nonprofit, My Kid Plate Foundation, in 2020.
